The Engines
Toyota\'s first Cressida came to the market in 1976. It was a sedan and was the best you could buy from Toyota in the United States. In some parts of the world, Toyota sold the Cressida with a 1.8 litre engine. A 4 or 5 speed manual was available and a 4 speed automatic was an option as well. In 1982 another came about, and this was the 2.8 litre engine. This engine is the best buy on the market today because it has a decent power output of 162 horsepower and it is more fuel-efficient than the 3.0 litre which came after. It also meets emmission requirements in most states.

The engine is code named 7M-GE and the turbocharged version is the 7M-GTE. These engines are highly sought after and they can fetch a high price. As much as $1000 is requested. The turbo sells for a little more.
